Cris and Janice a a great couple. When Geoff and I met with Janice for the first time she told us all about how much she LOVES Disney and how their first date was actually a trip to Disneyland! How cool is that? They booked us to be their photographers pretty close to their wedding, but I am SUPER glad we were able to fit in their engagement session before the wedding, which is on Friday! We kicked things off in Discovery park in Sacramento.

Don’t you just love Janice’s tattoos? I love that they look like old-school sailor tattoos.

After the park, we headed back into town to an awesome mural that Geoff and I had spotted when we were out to dinner the night before.

I see this parking structure all the time when I am driving around downtown. I’ve always wanted to use it in an engagement session and lucky us, we had the perfect couple!

I love that these next two photos show the different vantage points that can be captured when there are two photographers. I was four stories up for the areal shot while Geoff was at ground level to capture a super sweet up close shot.

Janice and Cris, we can’t wait for your wedding! Lucky we don’t have to wait long — just a few more days! Thanks for being such a rad couple!

I cannot say ENOUGH wonderful things about this wedding! A little background…Ashley gives me a call one day and pretty much tells me I am going to be her wedding photographer. After chatting with her for a bit I couldn’t have been more excited about it! Ashley is one of the sweetest people I have had the pleasure of knowing and I loved hearing all about how she and Zach have known each other since the 3rd grade and just how stinkin’ perfect they are for each other. Sadly though the phone was all we had as Zach and Ashley live in North Carolina. I’m sooo glad that they are from Sacramento, ’cause that means we were able to photograph their wedding that was simply bursting at the seams with love! Ashley and her bridesmaids got ready at her uncle’s house in East Sacramento. Ashley is drop-dead gorgeous and was such a treat to photograph. She looked amazing in her dress, not to mention she did her hair and makeup herself. Way to go, girl!

Awww…proud mama!! Ashley’s mom is so sweet and cute. I know where Ashley get’s it from!

Ashley just killed it! We rocked out some awesome bridal portraits in the yard.

Of course, every amazing girl has to have a crazy awesome group of friends! Even better yet they are all family.

Geoff got to meet up with Zach and his guys at Mckinley park where the ceremony was held. Zach is also an incredibly sweet and strong guy. It’s easy to see why these two are crazy about each other!

These two are just so freakin’ adorable. I have no words.

Then it was on to the reception at the Hamilton Park Community Center. I’m tellin’ ya. These folks know how to throw a party. It was emotional, hilarious, exciting and all around fun! It really goes to show you that love does not care about a glamourous venue or extravagant decorations. Down to the core this event was about family. The whole bridal party was family, the food was prepared by Zach’s mother, family had a hand in every detail and it showed. Even further, everyone there made Geoff and I feel like family too! Thank you all!

I think my favorite person there was Ash’s dad. Seriously! I’ve never seen a man so emotional about his little girl. It was so touching. Not only that, but he would go from tears of joy to life of the party!

Ashley and Zach, Geoff and I both cannot express how grateful we are to be a part of your wedding. You two share a love of each other and of family we all should envy and strive for. We are so proud that we got to be the ones to capture your special day. Thank you for being you and CONGRATULTIONS!! You deserve it!

Chris and Natalie are so much fun! They are super cute and perfectly matched for each other. Chris and Natalie wanted to have their engagement session in Midtown so we met up at Tapa the World on J Street for some snacks and sangria! Geoff and I had a great time getting to know them better before we kicked off the session.

Magically, the cars on J street parted for a brief while, so we took the opportunity to play in the middle of what is a normally very busy road.

I always love shooting in an urban setting. There is just so much variety! Cool old brick building, awesome modern lamp store, railroad tracks, car wash…check, check, check, and check!

How cute are they?! Seriously!

I am madly in love with these next photos. I think I am developing a little crush on arrows painted on the ground.

The day faded to a beautiful dark evening and thats when the magic really started to happen. Chris and Natalie rocked out this car wash!

After the session I spied a yog’ shop and we all went over for a sweet treat. All but poor Chris who was battling some stomach sickness. Chris you did great — thanks for being such a trooper! And thanks to both Chris and Natalie for being super incredibly awesome and giving us the opportunity to know you both better. We cannot WAIT for your wedding next year!!

John and Carlie! They are a seriously rad and sweet couple! Geoff and I made a trip up to Napa to Trefethen Family Vineyards (where Carlie’s dad is a winemaker) to be a part of their Napa wedding celebration. Napa was just perfect for a wedding. We were all afraid of a rain out, but the clouds cleared just in time and it was a beautiful day. We got to start off the day with with Carlie and her ladies as they got ready.

We took some rockin’ bridal shots with Carlie who was the perfect model, ie. GORGEOUS! Get on with your bad self Carlie! These are some of my favorite bridals!

Geoff and the guys prepped for the day at John’s dad house. He made the boys lunch while all the groomsmen pitched in to make sure John was dressed properly.

Then the boys headed over to the winery for some fun photos.

While it was fun being in stealth mode trying to keep these kids from seeing each other before the ceremony, we were so excited to see them get hitched! It was ceremony time! John and Carlie were married by a friend (which I highly reccomend!) and wrote thier very personal ceremony which started with the first lyrics of “Such Great Heights”, one of my favorite songs.

We hung out with the whole bridal party for a while…

…then stole the newlyweds away for some epic portraits.

I couldn’t help myself from taking some more images of the lovely Carlie in her princess dress.

Then it was on to the reception! Food and party time!

Check out this awesome cake that was made by Carlie’s friend. There were two flavors, homemade Rainbow Chip and Muddy Buddy. That’s right, I said Muddy Buddy. They were both equally scrumptious! (Sorry John and Carlie, I can’t pick sides!)

Congratulations to you both John and Carlie! We loved meeting you and having the opportunity to be a part of the start of your lives together! We wish you many years of happiness!

Kimnan and Lance are irresistibly sweet. We had a great engagement session with these two at the lovely William Land Park in Sacramento. It was such a fun time with a very cute and in-love couple. I love this first one with the geese, and not just ’cause I’m a sucker for animals. Those geese were fearless!

This next picture looks so soft I just want to touch it! We were seriously lovin’ the green.

Thank you Lance and Kimnan for being so adorable. We can’t wait for your wedding in just a few weeks!
