Our Wedding: SHOES!

August 12, 2009

With the big day approaching in about a week and a half, Geoff and I are working on finishing up all the little details. I love little details! They are one of the very most fun parts of planning a wedding. Today I am excited because we both have wedding shoes! Mine are peep-toe and orange and awesome. Even better yet, I found them at Nordtrom Rack for only 26 dollars. I love getting great deals, even though Geoff said this would be the one time when I’d be allowed to spend $200 on shoes. Maybe I’ll stop by a few boutiques downtown… (at $26, I can afford to change my mind, hehe).

Geoff got some pretty rockin’ shoes too. Yes, I’ve got a man that actually cares about what goes on his feet. He can be pretty picky about his shoes, hehe.

I’ve got more details to blog about in the upcoming week and a half. Stay tuned, I’ve even got some cool How-To projects!

Paul and Elise, Elise and Paul…how much do the two of you rock?! Umm…like, a LOT! Elise first called me a couple months ago to talk about for their wedding in April. I knew from the get go we’d hit it off. You see, Elise is an amazing craftista and owns her own lil design shop called Enjoy Design. She also writes an adorable blog (which I highly recommend to lovers of all things paper. Mmmm…paper….) Soooo, Elise and Paul grew up in Gold River, CA but happen to live in Maryland so the engagement session was the first time we met. Well, it was worth the wait! Geoff and I had an amazing time getting to know the both of them.

We met up with Paul and Elise in Gold River at their favorite restaurant, Il Forno Classico for drinks and a few photos. (BTW, their bread is to die for!)

We headed outside where the light was loving us. These next two photos make me feel all warm inside.

I love how Paul and Elise’s quirky personalities come through in their photos. Elise wrote the most amazing commentary on her experience at the session on her blog. Her words seriously made me get choked up.

“I really had no idea what to expect. That’s a lie. I expected extreme awkwardness. But instead, I got a laid back experience and an overwhelming sense of love for Paul. After spending three hours close to him, talking softly to him, kissing him, hugging him and holding his hand I realized, WOW. I AM CRAZY ABOUT THIS MAN. Don’t get me wrong, I already knew that, but your deepest emotion gets a bit hidden in the non-romantic activities of the day to day. Your passion hides out just a little bit. It was so fun to bring that back. And Lisa and Geoff were just perfect at capturing us being us.”

WOW, Elise. I could not have said it better! HUGE SMILE for that!

Totally rad jumping shot! Thanks for being such a great sport Paul, it was worth it!

After a while we headed over to the American River for some shots on and around the foot bridge.

Blue Steel, ready…GO!

Paul and Elise, Geoff and I are both super juiced for you wedding next year. I can’t wait to read about all the little details on your blog, hehe. We had a wonderful time with you at your engagement session!

Friday was a busy yet mega-awesome, love-filled day. We had the pleasure of hanging out with two great couples for two fun engagement sessions.

Preston and Trudee met us bright and early in the morning for their session in Old Sacramento. I love the movement and color in this shot. (Not to mention the sweet lovey-dovey faces!) I tell ya, these kids are in love in a big way!

Later that evening we met up with Dorothy and Teddy in Discovery park. What a great session with an adorable couple! I love this shot that Geoff captured. I cannot wait to share ALL of the images from both sessions! Coming soon my friends!

Now that, for the most part, our guests have received them, its finally safe to blog about our wedding invitations. This invitation suite was designed by me (why yes, I DO also do wedding invitation design! Check out the design gallery on the portfolio site and click here for more info). Our wedding will have kind of a carnival/circus/county fair/summer barbeque theme and I want to reflect that in the invitations. Also Geoff and I are pretty untraditional so loopy script typefaces were thrown out the window. I’m really happy with the outcome of the design.

With the business Geoff and I run together, elephants hold a soft spot in our hearts now. Plus they go along great with our theme!

Next up, our elephant cake toppers! I LOVE these! They are handmade by the amazing Hilary, the artist/craftslady behind Bunny with a Toolbelt. Check out her Etsy shop here, she makes the most adorable wooden sculptures. Well, when I saw these I knew they would be perfect!

Two weeks to go, people. Geoff and I are so excited! We have lots of little projects to finish up and so many more little details to share! Excitement!

What a seriously fun engagement session! John and Elizabeth are an adorable couple and Geoff and I had so much fun getting to know them better at their engagement session. We always like to choose a personal location to hold the session, so what better place than the couple’s home!? We were off to a great start in John and Elizabeth’s backyard.

John and Elizabeth have some adorable pets that play a big part in their lives. At our initial consultation they told us how they wanted to incorporate John’s kitty and Elizabeth’s bunnies into their wedding. So we made sure to get some darling photos of them and their critters!

After the kitty and bunnies had had enough, we walked around John and Elizabeth’s neighborhood.

How hot are Elizabeth’s shoes?! Elizabeth had a special request for some shots that illustrated her love of shoes.

John is in a band so he had brought his guitar along to the shoot. Great opportunity for a ring shot! BTW isn’t Elizabeth’s ring amazing? I love that they chose colored stones. Unexpected and beautiful!

Thank you for an awesome time John and Elizabeth! I know your wedding is going to be way fun. Geoff and I are both super excited!
